“Hey would it be cool if my friends and I came and took a bunch of photos in your store?”
“Uhh sure,” she replied in a confused tone “as long as you’re respectful of the other customers”
Where else would you get good lighting if not at a light store?
It was a Friday evening and we all pulled up wearing MvB. I was nervous. I’ve been in photoshoots before but I had never ran my own. The store had lights dangling and displayed in every possible way, nothing under $300. Thankfully my friends were watching my back as I dodged lights all around me.
I was overwhelmed with joy and gratitude, my friends and I laughed, joked, and milled around the store. Everyone was glowing, they are all such beautiful people inside and out. It was easy to take good photos.

I had no idea how to handle everything I was feeling. It’s quite special to feel supported in my passion by the people I love. The support of my friends means the world to me and I wanted to say thank you. We were already planning on having a party afterwards. On the way home, I stopped by the liquor store and grabbed the biggest bottle of gin I could find. For the rest of the night I played bartender, making sure my friends glasses were always full. As more people started showing up, they asked about the matching shirts everyone was wearing. My friends would point to me, “its MvB!”. The night got blurry as the bottle emptied, and we all danced and laughed the night away.
